Director of Operations, Matt Schulenburg
Matt Schulenburg served a dual role at the G Hospitality, combining his love of the dining room with his passion for mentorship by taking on the role of Talent and Development Manager in 2016. For the 2016 and 2017 summer seasons he was the General Manager of Garde East, and now serves as the Director of Operations for the restaurant group. The New York native began his career in the South by achieving five coveted stars from Mobile Travel Guide in 2007 as well as critical praise including Esquire Magazine’s best new restaurant accolade during his tenure at The Georgian Room at the Cloister Hotel in Sea Island, Georgia. When hired in 2015 by the Ocean House in Watch Hill, Rhode Island, the hotel received critical acclaim including 5 stars from Forbes Travel Guide as well as the AAA five Diamond Award, and Food & Wine, Conde Nast Traveler, among others.
Director of Sales and Events, Rebecca Miller
Rebecca Miller is an established event specialist, with more than 10 years of extensive experience managing, planning and catering weddings, corporate events, large banquet services and intimate social gatherings. Miller was previously general manager and director of catering for The Regatta Place and corporate events manager at OceanCliff Hotel – both located in Newport. While working at The Regatta Place, Miller was instrumental in earning the venue the Wedding Wire’s Couples Choice Award for four consecutive years. In 2013, she was a 2013 recipient of the Stars of the Industry “Emerging Leader” award from the Rhode Island Hospitality Association.
Executive Chef, Kevin Smith
Chef Kevin is a graduate of Culinary Arts at Le Cordon Bleu in Miami, FL. was born and raised in Raynham, MA. While studying at the school, Kevin worked as a line cook for his mentor, Chef Brian Rutherford at Bistro Mezzaluna, a fine-dining italian restaurant in the area. After honing his skills with Chef Rutherford, Kevin then took a sous chef position at Shula's 347 grill in South Miami, FL for a year, before transferring with the company to Shula's in Providence, located in the Providence Hilton, where he remained for an additional two years.
In 2013, Chef Kevin took an Executive Chef position with Barrett's Alehouse Corporation, based out of Bridgewater, MA, where over the course of four years, he was responsible for each of company’s five restaurant’s menu development, performance specs and standards.
Chef Kevin joined G Hospitality as the Executive Chef of the Providence G Pub in the spring of 2018. He resides in Massachusetts with his wife and two daughters. Although he claims not to have a particular or specific influence in his culinary creations, Kevin appreciates that simplicity in preparation can highlight foods best qualities, and generally tries to stick to that mentality when creating dishes.
Opened in 2014, GPub is a modern gastropub with an old world look and feel and features an eclectic mix of traditional pub favorites for food and drink all of which are presented with an artisanal, made from scratch, approach by our culinary and bar staff. Located in the basement of the ProvidenceG, which was formally the Providence Gas Building, the décor is based around the buildings original 1920’s framework. Rustic raw materials blended with modern touches give a warm and welcoming ambiance. Despite its historic past and decor, the GPub offers all of the modern amenities one would expect in todays pub including 17 LED TV’s, 3 Private Karoake Booths, and modern billiards tables and a shuffleboard table. Great food and drink combines with a warm and inviting space to create the amazing vibe that is GPub.
